May’s Full Flower Supermoon is slightly closer to Earth than it was in April, however, making it all the more super. The term Flower Moon came from the abundance of flowers blooming in the spring, dating back to a first recording in the 1780s. This Full Moon also comes with a Total Lunar Eclipse with a reddish-hued Moon in North America, western South America, eastern Asia & Oceania. The east of the Mississippi will see a partial eclipse.

The Full Flower Supermoon reaches its peak on May 26th as the closest Full Moon of the year with a total lunar eclipse. Its peak illumination will be at 7:14am EST and its best view will be on May 25th and 26th evenings.
